Julie Johnston is a retired teacher who worked for 10 years with the Spring Leaves Family Learning program at Pender School. There, she and her class developed the school garden, designed and built the garden classroom, and constructed the greenhouse and compost system. Julie is also the director of GreenHeart Education, an organization dedicated to promoting transformative education for sustainability worldwide. Julie has studied permaculture with Permaculture BC and with Geoff Lawton, one of permaculture's gurus. She is crazy about the concept of food forests, and imagines them growing wherever she goes.
